I painted Red Apples as a study of contrasting textures. I was interested in how paint could describe the cool smoothness of metal, the firmness and subtle resistance of apple skin, and the softness of velvet fabric within a single composition.

The painting grew out of careful observation — how light behaves differently on each surface, how edges shift from sharp to soft, and how texture helps define weight and presence. The arrangement is simple, allowing the focus to remain on material, surface, and the physical qualities of the objects.
